The Eaton Centre theme song – Life in the City

Written and performed by Terry Bush (of the mighty Littlest Hobo theme song fame), “Life in the City” was commissioned for the opening of the Eaton Centre in 1977. Various versions were used in their TV spots throughout the 80s.

  1. Terry Bush is probably the most unknown musical legend in Canada. He played guitar and sang with Robbie Lane and the Disciples before launching his jingle career in 1969. Terry wrote (and often played and sang on) thousands of jingles for national clients such as ESSO, Air Canada, Harvey’s Restaurants, Leon’s Furniture, Swiss Chalet, Cool Ray Sunglasses, The Bay, CBC Radio’s “This Country In The Morning”, Cameo Cigarettes, The Bank of Commerce, Coca-Cola, Chevrolet, Loblaws and so many more. Terry also created jingles for the Eaton Centre, Ontario Place, the Toronto Star and the Toronto Zoo. Along with Doug Riley, the duo wrote a jingle for Baby Ruth candy bars that turned into a Top 40 hit record in Canada. It was released on the Red Leaf label as a 45 using the name The Butterfingers. Terry’s personal website is littlesthobo.com.
